// fiend

This is easily one of my favorite pieces that I've ever made. // fiend was a labor of love and is the result of tinkering and experimentation. In planning the configuration of my spikes, I wanted them to evoke and reference cosmic, extraterrestrial creatures as well as royalty (crown). To add an obscure twist, I sought for the outcome to be eerie and haunting -- as if the fiend is basking in the cosmos of a galaxy far beyond our comprehension.

// fiend stretches into this imaginary realm and pulls the subject right out of it. For me, // fiend is an origin story. A tale of a creature emerging from the lifeless-- terrifying and all. Despite the beauty found in the red light that penetrates the dark, lifeless void, it did not create a beautiful thing. However, what is beautiful is its mere creation, not its form. There is an inherent beauty to the cycle of life and death; there is an inherent beauty that emerges from the absence of beauty.
